The answer is actually very simple: At the end of a floor check, usually an housekeeper sprays some kind of room parfume. They are not the same kind of parfumerie that you can get in a shop; they are made purposely to stay in large areas and generally smell very good (and very similar-a clean and tangy smell-). 2.1K views

2 Answers. Hotel sheets really should not have a smell - most hotels tend to use industrial grade “hypoallergenic detergents” considering people have different allergies or conditions that can be exacerbated by chemicals or scents, so they try to avoid any scents or fragrances.

Top luxury hotel chains, such as The Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental use the power of scent to brand themselves. They delve into the regions of their customer's brain by piping a luxury smelling fragrance throughout the building that instantly increases the quality of how their customers perceive the hotel.

Daily cleaning and changing of sheets make it free from bugs or insects that crawl and occupy the mattress, giving you a fair chance of a healthy lifestyle. It is also a sweet natural feeling to have a good and comfortable night's sleep when you've got new sheets. Its smell and texture are soothing.

If your bedsheets are pilling, stained, or worn out, don’t continue trying to extend their lifespan since they’re beyond repair. Old sheets can be rough, discolored, and smell, nothing like a luxury hotel’s bedsheets. Instead, upgrade to new bedsheets to freshen up your bed and enhance your comfort.

Good answers already, I think there could also be an element of the hotel wanting to assure you that the linens are thoroughly cleaned - if they were dark coloured they might hide a stain but white will show up any dirt.

We’ve seen these undercover reports several times over the years, and unfortunately the results are always this horrifying. You’d hope sheets would be changed between guests under all circumstances, let alone in the age of coronavirus. To see such major violations at three different hotels is incredibly disappointing.

Cotton, Tencel, and rayon derived from bamboo are also great options for people who sleep hot and those who live in warm locales. The same is true for linen. Sheets with percale weaves have lower thread counts and don’t hug the body as closely compared to sateen, so percale may be the best choice for sleepers with temperature sensitivities.
